Elementary Math: Integration of Visual Representations and Manipulatives in the Elementary Classroom
Radford University is pleased to offer "Elementary Math: Integration of Visual Representations and Manipulatives in the Elementary Classroom."

We invite elementary educators to join us in February for this three-part online professional development series.

Session & Learning Outcomes:

February 9 / Session 1: Examine how to implement the Build it, Draw it, Write it method with appropriate manipulatives.

February 16 / Session 2: Determine whether various tools and representations maintain mathematical, cognitive, and/or pedagogical fidelity when teaching a given mathematics concept.

February 23 / Session 3: Create a mathematics activity for an upcoming lesson that utilizes an appropriate visual representation or manipulative and maintains the 3 fidelities.

All sessions will take place from 4:00 PM-5:00 PM on Zoom and will be facilitated by Dr. Anthony Dove, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Radford University. This series is free to attend, but registration is required, and seating is limited. The workshops are not standalone, and participants should plan to attend all three in sequence.
